Surgery and Swap items

I have been pretty busy the last few days. I got a call from the hospital to meet with the anesthesiologist on tuesday and then today I had to meet with the opthomologist for a pre-op appointment. Apparently I am having surgery on the 24.. which is this coming tuesday. I just found out yesterday when it was. The doctors office called my grandmother at the end of October and she never mentioned it. I am having serious issues with this.
Fist I will say, I LOVE my grandmother dearly. She is my mother, she raised me, she has been there for me when I have needed her, she loves me unconditionally. However, she is a major control freak, which is why I moved out when I was 17.
So yeah, I’m having my second cataract surgery on tuesday. It would have been nice to know a couple weeks ago but c’est la vie I guess…..

So like I said before, I recieved my swap package. I got spoilt. She sent me a really pretty hat and scarf set,
a really pretty purse and bookmark,
and lastly I got a package of truffles(YUM!), 4 balls of yarn, a handwritten note, a pack of Prisma coloring pencils and a calender with 365 crochet stitches in it. I had alot of fun with this swap.

Another Swap Done

DCFC0010I finished my items for the Scarf Swap at Crochetville and last week I mailed them off.DCFC0002
This was the first time I had attempted cables and I have to say that I love doing them and can’t wait for an excuse to make something else with them. I made this scarf with Bernat Softee Chunky in natural and a 9mm sized hook. It took only 2 days to finish. I will post the pattern when I find what I wrote out.

This scarf I made using Lionbrand Homespun and a 9mm hook. DCFC0004I cannot remember the name of the color, but it is a really pretty blue with tones of turqoise and other pretty shades of blue. I just did either *hdc, ch1*, or just hdc, length-wise until I got a width I thought was good enough.

DCFC0006I also made her a bear using the Monique Bear Pattern. I seriously LOVE this pattern.
I also sent some dried berries and some vanilla tea, which she likes.
I had alot of fun with this swap. I got my package from her but I will post pictures tomorrow when I figure out how to get them off my new phone.. which I will also take pics of to show off how purdy it is =D.

So I’ve discovered…

That I am not a very good blogger. I want to be and I want to blog and I also mean to. But somehow I just haven’t. Maybe instead of a New Year’s resolution, I will have a November resolution; which will be to blog more often.

So not a whole lot has been going on, I have just been crocheting up a storm trying to get ready for Christmas, which, by the way has snuck up on me. Suddenly it’s November and I stll have the mindset that I have months and months left to finish everything. Yikes! I have started on the blanket I’m making for my grandmother, I’m still working on the poncho for Tabitha… and, well that’s it. Here is a list of everything I have to make:
1) Grandmother – Blanket, teddy bear
2) Grandfather – tree frog
3) Mike – hat and scarf set
4) Tabby – poncho, barbie clothes, teddy bear, doll, doll clothes
Plus a shawl, a teddy bear and penguin for my aunt and cousins.
Over extend myself much? Oh well lol.

I got my swap package from my partner over at Crochetville. It is wonderful! The shawl is so soft and pretty!DCFC0032 And she also included handmade stitchmarkers, a thread teddy, and a package of steel Boye hooks(!) DCFC0037
Wasn’t she thoughtful? I can’t say enough how much I have enjoyed getting to know her and to swap parcels with her!DCFC0039
